Sport at Scarborough College

Sport and Scarborough College are synonymous.  Sports and games from an integral part of school life throughout.  The infants have daily games lessons while experienced and professional trainers start coaching sessions from Year 3 onwards.  From a platform of a healthy lifestyle and a passion for playing sport; pupils can develop to start representing their Academic House or the College in competitive fixtures.  The journey does not end there and there are plenty of Scardeburgians, past and present, representing their countries at international level.

Sport in the Prep School

Sport plays an integral part of Prep School life.  Enthusiastic and experienced coaches start working with the children from Year 3.  Making full use of he many sports facilities, the aim is for pupils to enjoy sports, competition and developing skills.  The sports on offer are a variety of team and individual sports.

Pupils in Reception and Years 1 and 2 enjoy weekly swimming lessons during which we focus on water confidence, enjoyment and safety.  The pupils have regular Games sessions throughout the week and can choose sports options during the Holiday Club sessions.  From Year 3 onwards, all full school days include Games sessions including rugby, football, hockey, netball and cricket.  We encourage pupils to represent the school in cross country and the representative sports.  Among the individual sports on offer are athletics, swimming and tennis.

The Prep School benefits from the facilities at the Bramcote sports complex as well as all the sports facilities on the Filey Road campus.  Swimming lessons are held at a swimming pool near the College and we use Deepdale playing fields daily for games and PE.
