Learn – Daily EAL lessons
Two hours of EAL teaching each day, including a placement test and a minimum of 30 hours of English language tuition across the programme.
Spend four weeks immersed in life at Scarborough College, combining English language development with mainstream lessons, enrichment activities, excursions and the experience of living in a British boarding school.
The EAL Immersive Summer Programme gives international students the opportunity to experience everyday life at a British boarding school. Pupils have two hours of dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) lessons each day, alongside four integrated subject lessons with current Scarborough College pupils. English is put into practice throughout the school day – in lessons, activities, trips and everyday conversations.

The programme is about more than language learning. Students live in our boarding houses, take part in enrichment activities and weekend trips, and explore Scarborough, Yorkshire and beyond. Previous students have enjoyed visits to York and Whitby, a heritage steam railway, surfing with Scarborough College Surf Academy coaches and a day at Alton Towers.
