There is more to Scarborough College than the academic journey. There is more than one classroom. From the holiday club for pupils in the Prep School to the Enrichment Programmes and Yorkshire Grit for pupils in the Senior School, life at SC is a world of discovery and adventure. Use the options in the menu to see what is on offer in our sports, music and drama departments; find out what’s cooking in the kitchen or what our House System is all about.
Come rain or shine, our Little Owls can be outside whenever they want to be, as they begin to discover life at Scarborough College. Activities in the Pre-School range from horse-riding to visits to the beach and from pizza-baking in the dining area to swimming lessons.
Pupils in the Prep School have the opportunity to join the Holiday Club, which starts at the end of the school day. Activities are both inside and outside. Pupils can choose to play sports, play games or get creative in a wide variety of artistic specialties. The House System starts at Prep School and all pupils are assigned an academic house that they will represent throughout their time at school.
Yorkshire Grit, our nationally recognised co-curricular programme, starts in Year 7 and carries on into Year 9. Designed to expose pupils to challenges unknown, the diverse and rich character of Yorkshire Grit knows no bounds. It is one of the most popular programmes at Scarborough College. Most pupils who wish to carry on with something similar to Yorkshire Grit find themselves choosing to get involved in Duke of Edinburgh in Year 10.
Sports and performing arts play a crucial role at the College. Throughout the academic year, there are fixtures and performances that pupils and staff enjoyed. A whole school production, which is one of the highlights of the performing arts calendar, takes place at the end of the Autumn Term.
