Over 120 years ago, the Victorian founders of Scarborough College established a school with a charitable foundation to provide a top class education for deserving boys of the area who demonstrated obvious academic potential.
Today, though the modern educational landscape might look a little different, the College remains as committed as ever to providing aspiring local families with a realistic and affordable choice for educational excellence. Many of our present College parents, desiring the best for their child and/or dissatisfied with the performance of other schooling options in the area, benefit from our Assisted Places Scheme in order to provide their son or daughter with the first-class experience that will maximise their life opportunities.
Taking our Assisted Places Scheme one step further, and in keeping with the school’s foundation, the Governors of the College have agreed to provide families from the Scarborough and surrounding areas with the opportunity to apply for their son or daughter to become what has been termed the Scarborough Scholar. The award holder will benefit from a day or boarding place at the College with fees reduced by up to a full 100%.
Every year, Scarborough College invites boys and girls from Year 6 to Year 11 to apply. The applicant should be able to demonstrate their high academic achievement to date as well as their obvious future potential.
When you apply, please send in recent school reports and, where applicable, Year 6 SATs predictions, Common Entrance predictions, GCSE predictions/grades, etc. The Scholarships and Bursaries Committee would also like to receive references from the applying pupil’s present school. Aside from academia, many applicants will wish to demonstrate the positive input they could bring to the College in the fields of sport, music, drama and visual arts
We invite all interested families to contact the College prior to making an application in order to arrange a visit, which will include a tour of the campus and a meeting with the Headmaster. You can also decide to visit us at Open Day or during one of our Friday’s For You open days. You can find more information about Open Days here.
