Athletics is the latest addition to the sporting landscape of Scarborough College. The brand new specialist track and field facilities, certified by UK athletics, were opened in September 2023. Coupled with an influx of top international coaches, we have laid incredible foundations for athletes to come to Scarborough College and thrive both academically and in their sporting aspirations.
Athletics is offered through the College’s representative sports, its extracurricular activities and also as an option within the games programme. If you would like to get the inside track and find out more about Athletics at Scarborough College, please visit our applications page to arrange a visit.
Within the school timetable there is flexibility for training to be incorporated into the school day to allow evenings to be free for studying and social time (or, indeed, more training).
Athletics at Scarborough College follows the English Schools Athletics Association pathway through to the English Schools Championships.
This means you can still compete for your home club whilst being a member of the College. Competitive opportunities are supported by our coaches year round.
In the Sixth Form you will be studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, a globally recognised qualification which opens doors to universities across the world. Our students have progressed to secure sports scholarships at top universities in the UK, US and Europe, such as Oxbridge, Syracuse, Toronto and Harvard.
Students from overseas as well as the UK find their home away from home in our boarding houses. Each house is run by caring and involved house parents, as well as “on-duty” academic staff each evening.
We have a great community of boarding students and there are weekly options for a wide range of weekend and evening activities.
