Celebrating Outstanding International Baccalaureate (IB) Results 2026

Students, families, and staff at Scarborough College came together to share in another exceptional year of academic achievement, following the publication of the 2026 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results.

The Class of 2026 achieved a highly impressive average score of 33 points, which is at least two points above the global average and one of the highest points scores since the school became an IB World School in June 2006. This average is the equivalent of AABs at A Level, and reflects yet another excellent year of results for the class of 2026.

In addition, six students achieved 40 points and above, which is equivalent to a UCAS A Level tariff score of four A* and places them in the top 8% of global students.

Many of our students are departing for top universities in the UK and abroad. Leaving Scarborough College with the highest points score of this year’s cohort, Isidora has her pick of university offers with 43 points. Not far behind are Abi and Sarah, who both achieved 41 points and will depart for Nottingham and Durham respectively. Heading for LSE is Zoi with 40 points and we hope that Dieko, with the same score, will join her there, both studying Finance. Deputy Head of School Malachi will be studying Microbiology at Queen’s Belfast.

Head of School Anouk also did fantastically well, claiming her place at the University of Durham, following her gap year of playing hockey in the UK and the Netherlands.

Not all students will be swapping Scarborough College for university life. Darcy, who achieved three points higher than predicted, will be focusing on work experience in the automotive and luxury yachts industries. Charlie is also going into the automotive and engineering industry after being awarded a degree apprenticeship.

Beyond the headline stats and individual success stories, the results highlight the College’s transformative educational environment. A wonderful value added of 0.8 per subject and 0.6 per grade mean that students achieved significantly higher grades than what might have been expected of them upon entry into the Sixth Form. This demonstrates the exceptional success made by the various students under the care of teaching staff.

Mr Guy Emmett, Headmaster of Scarborough College, commented, ‘I am incredibly proud of our 2026 IBDP cohort. It is the first group of students that I have had the pleasure of seeing through from Year 7 and I am pleased to see it is one of the highest averages in recent years. From Abi, who joined us from Driffield seven years ago, to students such as Isidora, who achieved 43 points, putting her in the top two percent of IB candidates in the world; this group of students have excelled.

‘Finally, I want to thank our teaching colleagues, who have gone above and beyond to achieve the very best results across the different departments. We have exceptional teachers and the value added reflects the support students receive academically and pastorally.’

Ms Katie Cooke, IB Coordinator, added, “The IB Diploma is widely regarded as the gold standard of sixth-form education, preparing young people not just for university, but for the modern world. This year’s cohort has shown incredible dedication. From the 12% of students achieving elite scores above 40 points to the students who blew their predicted grades out of the water, today is a massive celebration of their character and determination.”

From degrees in Medicine to Architecture and inspiring degree apprenticeships, a bright future awaits the leavers. Congratulations to the Class of 2026.
