If you cut Mrs Tyson in half and you’ll see Scarborough College running through her like a stick of rock. As an Old Girl, Mum of a current student, and now Marketing & Events Manager, her life very much revolves around College – it’s not so much a job, but rather a way of life.
During her time at College, Kate was very involved with all things drama – from Shakespearean productions to the annual College musical (in which she once performed the starring role six weeks after being in intensive care!). She was a prefect, Head of Hartford house, and terrible at tennis and hockey.
Kate has over 20 years of marketing and communications experience, working in a diverse range of industries from finance to charities, tech startups to consultancy. However, her heart firmly lies in education, having worked in the further, higher and now independent sectors. Her career highlights include ghost writing for national newspapers, organising open events for over 1,000 visitors, and being the pen behind the Purple Ronnie fan club!
Outside of work, Kate spends much of her time chauffeuring her two daughters around Yorkshire. She’s also a keen reader and appreciates a wide range of music, from classical to old school rock.
