The Science Department in brief

Students from Year 4 in the Prep School enjoy lessons in science taught by a specialist teacher each week. From Year 7 all students are taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate subjects within the curriculum. Our aim is to introduce them to the different sciences through an engaging and hands-on approach.

All students continue to study the three sciences through to GCSE. The study of at least one science subject is a compulsory component of the IB Diploma in the Sixth Form. Together with the three sciences taught in earlier years, they have the option of studying Sport, exercise & health science and Environmental systems & societies as part of their IB. A significant number of IB graduates progress on to university to read for degrees in science related disciplines.

The department has five spacious and well equipped laboratories. Full use is made of technology to facilitate students learning both inside and outside lessons
