The Year Two Mars Landing

“Everyone is always fascinated by space.”

With that, the amazing Mrs Eves decided to dedicate her Design and Technology lesson to the Mars Lander that touched down earlier last month.  During the lesson on 18 February, Mrs Eves featured the landing of the Perseverance and making its final descent.

During the lesson, there was a brief outline of the task.  The idea was to make a soft landing.  Any materials could be used and the children made models out of K’Nex, paper cups, lego and even a fully robotic model.  A variety of parachutes were used and many prototypes were tried and tested.  Please see below for some unseen footage of the children’s fascinating and wonderful Mars Landers.

Noah’s egg survived the fall and eventually made it back to the fridge unharmed – in case you were wondering.
