Welcome from the Headmaster

Choosing the right school for your child can be a very daunting, and often bewildering, task.  Every child is different in his or her personality, outlook on life, interests and needs.  It is that very fact that underpins our whole collective rationale at Scarborough College: that each child deserves an individualised education that maximises their potential through the exposure to exciting opportunities and personal challenge.  What comes first above all else at Scarborough College is people. The entire design of the Scarborough College experience is driven by our desire to ensure we constantly meet the changing needs of each and every child as they progress and grow.  The extraordinarily strong relations that exist between staff and pupils, and between the pupils themselves here at the College are the very bedrock of the remarkable successes our pupils enjoy across all the many facets of school life.  Our students excel in the fields of academia, sport, music, drama, the creative arts and the many adventurous activities our pupils regularly enjoy through our enviable location on the Yorkshire coastline, aside the North York Moors.

We have been providing boarding and day education in Scarborough for nearly 120 years and therefore have strong traditions of excellence and achievement, enhanced by modern facilities, first class teaching and ‘home-from-home’ boarding accommodation.  Our unwavering high standards and explicit College Core Values provide the whole community with the framework needed for ultimate success in school and in the world beyond.

Above all, we pride ourselves on being friendly and unpretentious.  Visitors constantly remark upon how engaging, confident, interesting and proud of their school our pupils are.  Such roundedness and affability is purposefully nurtured in all our pupils from the Pre-school to the Sixth Form.  Scardeburgians are aspirational, curious, good fun and caring.

The problem is of course, although it’s a good starting point, a website cannot possibly immerse you fully into Scarborough College life, so we extend a very warm invitation to you to come and see us in person.  I have no doubts that you will be as impressed as I myself was the very first time I visited the College.
