Prep School Sport Update

It’s been an action-packed couple of weeks for our Prep School sports teams, with pupils showing great enthusiasm, skill, and sportsmanship across a range of activities.

Cricket Success for Boys and Girls

Our cricket season is well underway, and our teams are already showing promising form. The Girls’ U11 team had a fantastic result against Tranby, scoring 275 for 4 to Tranby’s 237 for 5. Grace was named Player of the Match for her excellent batting performance, while Sophie was recognised for her outstanding fielding.

The Boys’ U11 team also faced Tranby in what proved to be a close contest. Thanks to brilliant teamwork and determination, the boys edged out a victory by six runs – a great reflection of their growing confidence and camaraderie on the pitch.

Our younger cricketers have also been in action. The U9 girls and boys took to the field for friendly fixtures against Tranby. While results aren’t recorded at this level, it was fantastic to see them developing their understanding of the game, working together as a team, and most importantly, enjoying the sport. These early experiences will stand them in great stead for future competitive matches.

Golfing Greatness for George

Away from the cricket pitch, Year 2 pupil George continues to impress in the world of junior golf. Competing in the Faldo Series for the 7-8 age category, George has already claimed victory in two qualifying events. At Cottingham Parks, he scored 39 to win by a remarkable 14 shots, and at Murrayshall in Scotland, he followed up with a score of 40, winning by 9.

Next up is the regional final in Scotland, where George will test his skills against some older players. In addition, George has also qualified for the Junior European Championships, taking place at the end of May at Longniddry Golf Club in Scotland. Competing in the 7 & Under category, George will join around 60 talented young golfers from around the world for a three-day competition. It’s an incredible achievement, and we are incredibly proud of him. We wish George the very best of luck as he represents himself on the international stage.

Sporting Success in the Summer Term

It’s been wonderful to see so many of our pupils enjoying sport, and this is only the start of the Summer Term. With many more friendlies and fixtures to be played, we look forward to more successful teamwork and fun over the coming months.
