The Health Centre

The Health Centre is open  5 days a week. A Registered Nurse is on duty from 08.00 until 17.30, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays for sports fixtures. We also have a Health Care Assistant who works part time.

The Health Centre consists of a treatment room and a five-bedded rest room with a separate shower and toilet.

The School Doctor is Dr Cayley who is based at Falsgrave Surgery, Lawrence House Medical Centre. Doctor’s appointments are made through the Health Centre. 

Our Registered Nurse is Mrs Linda Pinkney.

Mr Kevin Riley is our qualified counsellor and sees pupils as required. Pupils are referred via the nurse, teachers, parents or they can refer themselves. We also use CAHMS and several other external counsellors. 

We also refer to a Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Dentist and other specialist services.

The nurse’s responsibilities are:

  • Caring for sick pupils
  • First aid provisions
  • Supporting pupils with chronic medical conditions
  • Health screening
  • Travel advice
  • Immunisation/vaccination programmes through the Healthy  Child 5 – 19 Programme NHS England
  • Individual work with pupils on a variety of health issues i.e. alcohol, drugs and smoking 
  • Supporting pupils with and promoting good Mental Health
  • Health promotion for pupils, parents and staff.
