On Tuesday 23 January ten art students from the Lower Sixth and one Upper Sixth student took the train to York to visit The York Art Gallery and CoCA. This gallery has been expanded to establish the new Centre of Ceramic Art and their collection amounts to over 5,500 pieces. This collection was the focus of our trip as the students are beginning to work in clay and will produce at least one final piece in this media for their final exhibition. They also enjoyed and were inspired by an extensive exhibition of Christopher R.W. Nevinson’s paintings, drawings and prints plus other 2D works from the gallery’s collection. We find this a great trip to a high calibre city gallery which is on our doorstep!
