On the third, fourth and fifth of February, Lisvane Hall was lit up by the chaotic and colourful world of Alice in Wonderland.
Lewis Carroll’s classic tale was brought to life by some of our talented students who had been working on the musical since last summer. The production starred Bliss Horwell and Hattie Gillingham who took us on Alice’s journey to a strange and maddening world inhabited by a cast of crazy characters.
The Caterpillar, played by Euan Harker, was cool whilst the White Rabbit played by Becca Ingram was twitchy; the Mad Hatter (Miles Horsham-Batley) was certainly mad and the Dormouse (Ellie Walsh) was sleepy. The Cheshire Cat (Maddie Hill / Georgie Kidger) grinned, the Queen (Miranda Martin – Hart) shouted – loudly - and Alice was perplexed by it all.
The songs were, in turn, jazzy – Keep it Cool, beautifully lyrical – If I Were Painting the Sky and a little bit bonkers – Tweedledum and Tweedledee with the rousing Wonderland ending the show in fine style.
Every single cast member from Alice to our smallest Playing Card worked hard and clearly relished their time on stage. They have surely benefitted from the experience of working together to create, not only a piece of theatre, but memories that will last for a long time.
Ms Galway, Mrs Leeson and Mrs Walsh would like to thank all cast and crew as well as everyone who worked on set, costume, make up, sound and lighting.
Thanks also go to administrative and estates staff for their unsung but very much appreciated help.
Now - what shall we do next year…?
