Scarborough College are delighted by this year's fantastic results. Year 11 pupils from across North and East Yorkshire, in addition to boarding students from across the globe, achieved a tremendous 94% A* to C across all entries with 47% of all grades received being A* or A. Four students scored straight A*s and As and no less than 13 separate subjects achieved a full 100% A* to C outcome. An average value-added score of 0.8 of a grade added to every subject for every pupil was also a real triumph.
Charles Ellison, the headmaster, commented: "Today's GCSE results are simply phenomenal and are testimony to years of determination and dedication by pupils who are aspirational and positive in all they do, inside and outside of the classroom. For pupils to achieve an A* or A grade in almost half of all their subjects within a mixed ability school is quite astounding. Whilst the raw statistics are truly impressive, the highly significant value-added score is evidence that the product we provide to local families really does deliver excellence and equips their children with a passport for life. The combination of small class sizes, a varied and rich curriculum, highly-experienced teachers and very supportive parents have all played their part in bringing about such pleasing results. Our students can embark with confidence and excitement upon their IB Diploma in the Sixth Form with rock solid academic foundations for further success in two years' time."
