Scarborough College celebrated another year of excellent academic results this year as 88% of its UK students gained 5 grades A* to C with 44% of the exams passed at A* or A. This set of results follows the highly successful International Baccalaureate results which were published in July.
The College curriculum is academic and all students follow GCSE rather than equivalent courses. Therefore, Headmistress, Mrs Isobel Nixon was particularly delighted with another 100% pass rate in IGCSE maths. Other key areas of success were in Science, Modern Languages, English Literature and Art. Mrs Nixon said, “Our international ethos and rigorous academic programme bring out the best in all our students regardless of ability or background. I am delighted that, once again, they have achieved their potential in subjects which have lasting value for the future.” Top performing UK student was Saskia Benz with a clean sweep at A* and A.
A third of the Year 11 students are international representing over a dozen nationalities and follow a specially designed one year pre-IB course which combines some GCSE subjects with additional classes in English as a Second Language. The College were equally pleased with the results for these students, all of whom are studying academic subjects in a foreign language. Top performer was Kevin Ranner from Germany who passed all nine of his subject with 6 at A* and A. Kevin is now looking forward to joining our Sixth Form and commencing the International Baccalaureate programme at the College.
Congratulations to everyone on another great set of results and we look forward to seeing you back to start the IB Diploma in a few weeks time!
