College Staff take on the Great North Run

Scarborough College pupils have recently become well known for their lessons in and their natural, steely Yorkshire Grit characteristics, but now the teachers are joining in and leading by example.

This weekend, four members of staff took on the Great North Run, all for their own personal reasons.  Mr Ellison, headmaster, Mr Horton, Mrs Corich-Hewison and Mrs D'Eath all headed up to Newcastle to at the weekend to join 54,000 runners and their supporters on what was a truely amazing experience.  Mr Horton is the most experienced runner of the four and has completed the GNR a number of times as both a serious runner and a fundraiser.  It was a first for Mrs Corich-Hewison, Mrs D'Eath and Mr Ellison who were all fundraising and pushing themselves towards achieving their own personal goals.

With PBs set over the 13.1 mile course and over £1500 raised for The British Red Cross, the Make a Wish Foundation and Guide Dogs, our staff have certainly deserved their medals and the support of our pupils and staff and their family and friends.  Congratulations to all of them and we look forward to the next staff/student challenge of the year.
