On Tuesday 6 March the U13 A and B teams played Hall Cross in two exciting games.
The A team applied good pressure early in the match, pinning Hall Cross in their own half which lead to our opening goal. The College side scored again before half time but went into the break with the scores level at 2-2. The College side piled on the pressure in the second half which was effective, but we struggled to take the lead, often due to outstanding goalkeeping from the Hall Cross keeper. Thankfully we scored 3 goals in the final 5 minutes to run out victorious by 5 goals to 2.
The U13 B team continued the winning streak and won comprehensively by 7 goals to nil.
On Wednesday 7 March the 1st team boys beat Hall Cross 3-2 in a game where the College dominated large portions of the match. Although things didn’t fully click, we managed to escape with a well-deserved win.
On Saturday the U15 boys beat Ampleforth A team 5-0. They started the match much quicker than Ampleforth and with some good passing and clinical finishing we were 3-0 up at the break. We started the second half as we finished the first and added two more goals and with an organised defence we finished with a clean sheet.
Also on Saturday the 2nd team boys faced a strong Ampleforth side and were beaten although the boys can be proud of their efforts this season.
The 1st XI boys also travelled to Ampleforth on Saturday and suffered an unfortunate 1-0 defeat. The team defended resolutely throughout the match and some great saves from Tom Thornton and as a team we only conceded one goal. Luke Burton, Fabian Marras and Harry Fenton worked well upfront despite seeing little of the ball. Captain Ollie Beckett would like to thank the boys from the second team who stepped up and played two games on Saturday.
