Students, staff, and families at Scarborough College are celebrating the impressive 2024 IBDP results. With an outstanding number of students achieving 40 points and above, the College continues to pave the way for its students to secure spots at prestigious universities worldwide, including Oxbridge and the Ivy League.
This year’s cohort achieved an impressive school average of 33 points. Nearly a quarter of the students scored 40 points or higher, equivalent to three grade A* or more. Among the top achievers were local students Ingrid Yeung, heading to UCL with 44 points, and Harry Cammish, bound for Cambridge with 43 points. Other notable mentions include Elliot Burnley and Tamara Jacobs, both set to pursue Medicine. Head of School Jacob Taylor Burks also excelled, scoring 42 points.
Scarborough College’s average surpasses the global average of 30.3 points by nearly three points, marking some of the highest results in the College’s history.
Ms. Katie Cooke, the IB Coordinator, expressed her delight, saying, “I am thrilled to congratulate this year’s graduating class on their remarkable achievements. The impressive number of students scoring 40 points or higher is a testament to their hard work and dedication, as well as the unwavering support from our staff. Our value-added score of 2.15 points reflects the tremendous progress our students have made.”
Special congratulations were extended to the students achieving an outstanding 44 points. The majority of students have been accepted into their first-choice universities, including prestigious institutions such as Cambridge, other Russell Group members, and leading international universities like Harvard and Columbia. These accomplishments highlight the students’ commitment and the exceptional support from Scarborough College’s dedicated teachers and Sixth Form team.
Headmaster Mr. Guy Emmett shared his pride, stating, “I am thrilled with their results and they can now enjoy the summer, knowing virtually every student has secured their first-choice university. The IB has once again proved to be the gold standard qualification, and I congratulate each student for all they have achieved. They have excelled across all areas of school life, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
Mr. Emmett also extended his gratitude to the excellent departments at Scarborough College, looking forward to an exciting future for each student. Reflecting on the success, he added, “Today could be the most successful results day I have experienced since I became a teacher in 2001.”
