Christmas Charitable Giving 2023

Scarborough College’s Spirit of Giving has been very generous this year, as we worked in partnership with organisations across the town to deliver toys for Christmas.

Rainbow Centre Toy Appeal

Each year we take part in the Christmas toy appeal for The Rainbow Centre, helping them to provide every child who lives in poverty in the local area a new toy for Christmas. We were able to pull together a great donation of presents, along with a raffle donation from Little Owls of £140, to hand over to the team at The Rainbow Centre.

Sophia Ibbott Cook (Y12) said: “During the last week of this very hectic half-term, everyone in the Scarborough College Community pulled together to donate Christmas presents to the Rainbow Centre. We hold this cause very close to our hearts at Scarborough College not only because we’re passionate about helping those who are less fortunate and that we’ve worked alongside the Rainbow Centre for a very long time but also because our gift collection was always headed by the amazing Mr Wilson in previous years.

“We are so proud of everyone at Scarborough College for going above and beyond with their generosity which will truly transform the Christmases of so many children in our community and for in turn honouring a much beloved former member of staff. Thank you to everyone who gave a present or their time to help make this possible. Have a great Christmas.”

Dunelm Delivering Joy

Three of our lovely Y12 students took on the role of Father Christmas to “Deliver Joy” to support the Dunelm Community campaign. For the second year in a row, we donated a range of Christmas gifts for children, taking gift tags from the Dunelm giving tree and finding the perfect gift for each child.

The Dunelm campaign is a national initiative, but presents are donated locally to our own Scarborough community.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to every member of the school body who
